8 SEO Chrome Extensions to optimize your daily work

Are you that type of person whose browser bar is occupied by 36 active extension at a time?

Well, I’ve been there.

But I found out that more or less, these extensions do the same work.

So I narrowed it down to the best SEO extentions that do the hard work, consume as little memory and have simple UI.

Let’s go.

My best SEO Chrome extensions

  • Robots Exclusion Checker – This is by far my favorite. Hats off to the developer, Sam Gipson. It shows you the robots.txt status, Indexation, and Canonical on a quick overview. The nifty little icon also shows if a page load happened via JS, has a different canonical (icon turns orange) the page is noindex (icon turns red) or was blocked in robots.txt.
  • Redirect Path: It does one thing but it’s all that you need. Without clicking anywhere you can quickly check if a redirect took place or not. If a redirect happened, you’ll usually see a ‘3xx’ label on the icon in the extensions bar.
  • Detailed SEO Extension: Similar to SEO Minion but I like to use it to Get SEO insights at the click of a button. Usually for features like Title, Description, Headings structure, and Schema. In contrast to SEO Minion, this extension is much faster in the on-page analysis.
  • View Rendered Source: This shows you how the browser has constructed (rendered) a page’s original HTML into a functioning DOM, including modifications made by JavaScript. Great for Technical SEO Analysis. More on Dynamic rendering here.
  • Search Filter: Whenever you need to make your links stand out in search. Search Filter allows you to highlight, or disappear, specified domains. Works on Google and Bing search results.
  • Toggle JavaScript: Toggle JavaScript provides you with a simple “enable or disable JavaScript” globally. Great for working with JS powered websites.
  • Meta SEO Inspector: Easily inspect the meta data found inside web pages, find issues and get advices to fix them. This extension is mainly aimed at web developers that need to verify the HTML of their site to follow the Webmasters’ Google Guidelines, but even to who is curious about any page contents that are usually not visible, but can reveal interesting site properties.
  • Web Vitals: Web Vitals are quality signals key to delivering great UX on the web (https://web.dev/vitals). This extension measures the Core Web Vitals, providing instant feedback on loading, interactivity, and layout shift metrics.
